Shim Dalgi, born in 1999, has always been immersed in the performing arts, both her parents being themselves stage actors and having produced all together their own small plays since she was in elementary school. It was however behind the camera that she started her film career, having directed the short <Subconscious and Area> (2016), which was first presented at the Seoul International women’s Film Festival. Her first screen appearance came two years later when she played the titular character in <Dong-a> (2018), winner of the Korean Short Competition Grand Prize at the Jeonju International Film Festival. Later, her performance in that same film won her a Special Mention from the Jury at the Mise-en-scene Short Film Festival. She was next seen in the Netflix anthology film <Persona> (2019), playing against lead actress IU in Jeon Gowoon’s segment titled <Kiss Burn>. She followed this up with the courtroom drama <Juror 8> (2018), in which she played the daughter of the defendant. After a minor role in the romance <Tune in for Love> (2019), she appeared in the Lee Kyoungmi-directed Netflix series <The School Nurse Files> (2020) and starred alongside Bang Minah in the critically acclaimed indie drama film <SNOWBALL> (2021), for which she received the Baeksang Arts Award for Best Supporting Actress. She rose to fame in 2022 playing the younger version of Lee Jungeun’s character in the drama series <Our Blues>, and she also made a strong impression with her role as a young, convicted criminal in the drama series <Juvenile Justice> (2022). She also landed the lead role in the indie drama film <ROLLING> (2022), which premiered at the Jeonju International Film Festival, and was cast in the Disney+ original series <Moving>.
